4 More Days until BOBBY LONG!!!
Ok, so I just got back from the most amazing trip to Dallas & Austin to see Bobby Long, Marcus Foster, Sam Bradley, and my Land of Dreamer Friends. I don't have time to write anything about it, though, because I'm leaving Saturday to go to Portland & Seattle to see Bobby again.
I'm the Washington, Oregon, & Idaho Regional Leader for the LoD ST and Bobby Long's Seattle show is only 4 days away!
We still want to sell as many tickets as possible! So please tell everyone you know who lives in Seattle and the surrounding areas. Here is the info, as approved by Phil Taylor, Bobby's manager. Please respost it on your blogs, your Facebooks, etc. Thank you!

Bobby has 3 singles on iTunes right now: "Left to Lie," "Being A Mockingbird-Live from Arlene's NYC," and "The Bounty of Mary Jane." Go buy, buy for your friends, & tell everyone!

TexFest09!
Right now I'm leaving on a jet plane, bound for Dallas, Texas, for what we at the Land of Dreamers are calling TexFest09! We're a group of fans who help promote & support English singer/songwriter boys Bobby Long, Marcus Foster, and Sam Bradley. They are amazing and we have an amazing time telling people about them.
All 3 are in Dallas for TwiCon, since they co-wrote songs that appeared on the Twilight Soundtrack, sung by their pal, and have some shows at other venues there and in Austin, so we decided it would be absolutely fabulous to all convene and meet & greet!
I can't believe I get to go! My lovely cousin gave me her frequent flyer miles and is letting me stay at her house in Austin! Such a miracle. I'm so grateful to her and to God. This is a dream trip.
I will be at Marcus' & Bobby's shows at Poor David's Pub tonight. Then, Saturday night is the coolest thing ever: Bobby, Marcus, & Sam all at Poor David's Pub. Sunday, we drive to Austin, where we will see Bobby & Marcus play again at Room 710 (Incidentally, their shows are the last shows at Room 710, which is closing.) Monday night, Sam plays at Stubbs BBQ. Tuesday afternoon, I fly home . . . exhausted, I am sure, and happy as ever!
I will be sure to post pictures & videos when I get home & get some sleep. This is going to be such a trip!
I'm actually very excited & quite nervous at this point. I haven't flown in about 7 years and this is my first big trip by myself (yes, at age 28). But, I cannot wait to meet all my fabulous LoD girls & Marcus, Bobby, & Sam. They are such sweethearts & truly gifted.
Please come visit us at the Land of Dreamers, visit the Boys at their MySpaces, and listen to some exquisite music! I'm very proud to be a Land of Dreamers member & support these Boys.

American Indie's Feature Interview: Bobby Long (And A Contest At the End!)
Absolutely awesome little interview with Bobby Long by our friend Sheena at the always amazing American Indie.
Sheena got to spend a few minutes with Bobby after his unannounced 3-song "gig" at The Library earlier this week and, as always, Bobby didn't disappoint!
They talked about his thoughts on the upcoming "Dangerous Summer Tour," the only person Bobby says he'd cover, how he would one-up Marcus Foster, and more! Sheena also wrote about the songs Bobby played that night and shared some fabulous pictures of Bobby.
Oh, yes, mustn't forget: go leave a comment on the interview and you could (with drinks on Sheena, Melanie, and Amy, from AI)!
So, go read visit the Land of Dreamers and read "Five Minutes and Three Songs with Bobby Long" and show Sheena & AI lots of love for covering the Boys!
Then, tweet & post the link to this post like crazy so people can stop by this LJ & read our awesome posts before heading over to American Indie!

Happy Independence Day!
I'm so thankful to live in the greatest country every to grace this earth. God has blessed us with so many things, chiefly, FREEDOM. I am thankful for all the men and women who have fought for, sacrificed for, lived & died for our Freedom, Faith, and Way of Life. We owe them more than we can give. And we mustn't let this country, of the people, by the people, and for the people, slip away into the ever-widening pit of socialism. I am not going to sit around while it is happening. Let's fight for our Freedom.

God Bless America.
Happy Independence Day!

Happy 108th Birthday!
If Edward Cullen from Stephenie Meyer's Twilight
were a real person (hmmm, real Vampire), he would be 108 years old today. So . . .

Happy Birthday, Edward!!!
It was actually 1 year ago today (around 3:00am) that I finished the 3rd book in the series, Eclipse, and it was a few days later when I realized I had finished the book on his fictional birthday. Sort of a nerdy thing to be happy about, but I'll take it. :)
Off to watch some Twilight and have some cake! :)
Here's the movie trailer in case you missed it:

One Year of Twilight
It has been a year tonight since I began reading Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1)
. I bought the first book in the series a couple of weeks before, after joining Facebook and seeing tons of Twilight flair. So, I decided to see what the fuss was about and looked up the books. The story intrigued me. Thinking back, I had seen students reading the books the last couple of years, but had never been interested.
After I bought Twilight
, I didn't read it for a couple of weeks. I'm not sure why, other than that sometimes I like to keep exciting/interesting books around to prolong the gratification. I decided, for some reason, that I was going to start reading it the night of Saturday, 14 June.
Of course, I woke up that morning with a bad headache that lingered all day. But, I was determined to begin it, so I did . . . and ended up reading until 3am, when I reluctantly made myself put the book down. I know exactly where I stopped.
I decided only to read the books at night, in order to drag out my joy. I was quite good about it Sunday. It was Father's Day and we went to see Prince Caspian at the movie theater. And I saw my first Twilight poster. Yay!!
That night I kept reading and again read until at least 3am. It was so hard to stop (sort of like how hard it is for Edward to resist Bella's blood).
Monday I was doing a ton of cleaning in my bedroom. My entire bed was covered, as was most of the floor. I worked, but my mind kept wandering to the book . . . which was sitting right there. And who was to say I couldn't sneak a chapter or two . . . except me.
So, I cleared a tiny spot on the floor next to my bed, squeezed down, and sped through a couple of chapters. Then put it down and got back to work.
I finished it that night. My first post about it is here.
And this is what I wrote after I read Twilight for the first time.
One song that makes an appearance is "Clair de Lune" by DeBussy. I had just been in a little "Atonement" phase and that song is on the soundtrack. After I read that part in the book I started playing it over and over and over and it became my Twilight song. It fits so perfectly. Now every time I hear it I feel all thos emotions again.
Tuesday I went to the story and bought the next two books, New Moon and Eclipse. I wasn't going to do any reading except at night, so I had to wait until I got home Tuesday evening to start New Moon. I ended up staying up really late that night and then threw my "only before bed" rule out the window. I read it as much as I could and finished it Wednesday night.
I began Eclipse and did the same and finished it at 4am the morning of 20 June, which just so happens to be Edward Cullen's birthday (haha). I was enthralled.
And one of my best friends began reading the books after she saw I was, so we were enthralled together.
This past year has been a Twilight year. The fourth book, Breaking Dawn
, came out on 2 August 2008 and we had a Breaking Dawn Weekend.
Then in November the Twilight movie came out. Amazing. Another Twilight Weekend. And now New Moon has been filmed. It seems like years, but it has only been one.
I love it. So I'm going to read it again (again again) tonight. :)

Wednesday Hero
25 years old from Paterson, New Jersey

May 11, 2009
On Mother's Day, Eugenia Gardos made a tabletop shrine to her recently deceased mother, surrounding her photograph with silk roses, a small white rosary cross, two votive candles and a prayer card of Senor de los Milagros, the patron saint of Peru.
The next day, May 11, she added her son's picture to the shrine for the dead.
Sgt. Gardos was killed along with five fellow servicemen; Army Spc. Jacob D. Barton, Army Maj. Matthew P. Houseal, Navy Cmdr. Charles K. Springle and Army Pfc. Michael E. Yates Jr. in the attack on Camp Liberty.
"The first time he left for Iraq, when they would read the lists of the dead on the news, we used to hold our breath, praying he wasn't on it," his mother said. "I don't understand how he could have died this way. I just don't understand it."
Sgt. Galdos had emigrated with his family from Mollendo, Peru, as a child and had been a U.S. citizen since high school. His mother, two older brothers and older sister recalled how he used to hand out candy to children in Iraq the same way he always did in Paterson, never making a trip to the corner bodega without a group of neighborhood children tailing behind, knowing he would buy them candy or a soda.
"We were all here at home," Carlos Bueno, Sgt. Galdos's father, said. "I was getting ready to go to bed when I heard screaming downstairs. I ran downstairs and everyone had thrown themselves to the floor, thrashing around, screaming."
Bueno said he does not feel bitterness toward the man accused in the shootings, whom he described as "mentally ill."
"We want people to know we're proud of our son's Army, but if my son had died in war we would be able to handle that," he said. "But not to die in this manner."
