Bones is back, baby!!

I'm really delighted that one of my favorite tv shows, Bones, is back tonight! The hiatus has been so very long and the cliffhanger was so completely exciting that Bones fans have been looking forward to tonight's episode with barely contained excitement. If you're already a fan then you know what I am talking about.

I do hope this "change in the game" does not throw the show's magic off. In some ways I'm sad that we won't get to see the actual development of the relationship beyond what we have always seen. Brennan and Booth were essentially always a couple but while they behaved like a couple, I am sad we do not get to see their first kiss as a couple or date or that sort of thing. We have always seen them relying on each other as one would expect from a committed couple but there is a difference when they are holding back and doing so as just friends rather than as a couple in love. Perhaps we will be surprised with flashbacks. Please.

I do have faith that the show's magic will continue. I think, for the most part, the relationship has played out in a near perfect way.

The Office: Season 4 Out Today! Yay!

One of my favorite tv shows is The Office and I'm very excited today because Season Four comes out today. This season was interupted with that stupid and wasteful writer's strike, so hopefully they have added a lot of great extras to make up for it (because the price certainly isn't lower even though there are fewer episodes!).

More official info on the dvd here.

Office Tally has a great dvd buying guide, detailing the different special gifts one can get with the dvd at various stores. I don't know where I'm going to buy my copy yet, but I'm going today!

The Closer Returns!

Monday one of my favorite tv shows, The Closer, (official website with great stuff here) returns for its fourth season. I cannot wait! It has been an age since last season, with the writer's strike delaying its return by a month (compared to when the other seasons premiered).

I am looking forward to Brenda and her squad's new cases, personal stories, and her devotion to sugar and chocolate. The episodes are always superbly written and interesting.

Monday there will be reruns of last season on TNT, in case you missed them. I highly recommend this series and I know where I'll be at 9pm! Don't miss it!

After all, "Everyone has something to confess."

And, also Monday, Kyra Sedgwick will be on the Rachael Ray Show. She's a chocoholic, too, so she'll be doing a chocolate lover's challenge blindfolded. Looks like a great episode!

Congratulations, Top Chef Stephanie!

Stephanie was the winner of Top Chef Season 4, beating out Richard and Lisa. Richard sort of had an off day, unfortunately, and Lisa a pretty good one. I felt terribly for Richard, who just didn't have his usual magic. Stephanie was great and I'm so glad that she won!

AP: 'Top Chef' cooks up a first - a female winner---

Stephanie Izard, a 31-year-old, mild-mannered chef from Chicago, beat out 15 other contestants to win the popular reality show designed to test a cook's mettle.

Izard, a former restaurant owner with a fondness for seafood and pork, was among the last three contestants to make Wednesday's finale, along with Lisa Fernandes of New York and Richard Blais of Atlanta.

Going into the finale, Blais appeared to be the favorite, but it was Izard who impressed the judges in the end to capture the title and $100,000 that goes with it.
And her menu:

Ultimately, Izard prevailed with her dishes of sauteed red snapper filet with truffled white asparagus and clam broth; seared quail breast with butter poached lobster ravioli and mango; lamb medallions with maitake mushrooms, olives and braised pistachios; and ricotta pound cake with lime glaze, pineapple and salted banana cream.
Stephanie was a gracious winner and deserved the title after being consistently good all season.

I just wish Richard had been on for this part of the finale. He was superb all season and it was so sad to see him a bit lost tonight. He seems like such a friendly man and talented chef. I'm sure there are only great things ahead for him! And I would love to eat at any restaurant of his (or Stephanie's).

Congratulations, Stephanie Izard!

Top Chef Finale!

Don't forget! The 2nd half of the Top Chef Season 4 Finale is on tonight! Last week Antonia was sent home (wrong decision!) and horrid Lisa made it to the final, along with the challenge winners, Stephanie and Richard.

I'm rooting for Stephanie or Richard. Stephanie showed such class when her sous chef Dale left the Pork Belly out all night. Rather than throwing a fit (as Dale would have done if the situation had been reversed), she took a minute to get over it and then they came up with a new plan.

I can't believe the season finale is already here!

Top Chef 4 Season Finale Begins Tonight!

What else is there to say? :)The first half of the Top Chef Season 4 Finale is on tonight at 10pm. The final four are Antonia, Richard, Stephanie, and Lisa. I love Antonia and like Richard a lot. Stephanie is pretty good. But, I absolutely detest Lisa! I don't know how she made it this far with that horrid attitude, greasy personality, and lackluster dishes.

I'm really excited to see the challenges they face tonight (and hopefully Lisa goes home!). They will be in Puerto Rico for this finale.

Bones is Back!

One of my favorite tv shows, Bones, began again tonight at 9pm! I meant to post about it but forgot because we had a guest for dinner and I just taped the show. I watched it just a few minutes ago and it was, as always, hilarious and interesting! I am so glad it is back!

I only began watching this show last spring, but it quickly became one of my all-time favorites, with fantastic, quirky characters, fabulous plots, and excellent writing. David Boreanez and Emily Deschanel as FBI Agent Seeley Booth and Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan, respectively, are superb as the leads and have great chemistry. I wish there were more than 6 5 episodes left this season!

The Office is Back!

After waiting through the dreadful and pointless Writer's Strike, The Office is back tonight! The episode is "Dinner Party" and airs at 9pm on NBC. Michael and Jan invite Jim and Pam, Angela and Andy over for a dinner party and, of course, hilarity insues! I am looking forward to this!

Cutie-pie John Krasinski was on the Rachael Ray Show earlier today and it was an hilarious interview! You can see film over at OfficeTally.

My Guilty Pleasure!

Recently I came across Showtime's The Tudors starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers on Comcast's "On Demand" and ended up watching all 10 (edited) episodes. I was hooked!

Tonight is the premiere of the second season. I don't get Showtime, so I will have to wait until the show is either on On Demand or comes out on dvd.

The Tudors isn't always historically accurate (JRM is younger than Henry VIII was supposed to be), but it is intriguing and interesting. While JRM doesn't look exactly like Henry, who was very handsome when he was younger, Jonathan has a certain sexy intensity that translates very well as royalty.

The rest of the cast---Henry Cavill, Callum Blue, Sam O'Neill, Jeremy Northam---are all fantastic, too. The costumes and sets are gorgeous.

You can create your own Tudors portrait and gallery here.

Jamie's Back on the Food Network!

I'm really excited: the first chef I ever saw on the Food Network is back! Have you ever heard of the Naked Chef? (It's the food that's naked!). Jamie Oliver is a fabulous English Chef. The first time I ever watched the Food Network was while I was watching a Mariner's game with a friend years ago. During a commercial we were flipping through the channels and came across this English guy making bread dough on a counter top. He had the flour in a mound and then created a space in the middle where he added the water, salt, sugar, and yeast, and then mixed it up with his hands. We were hooked. After a couple of years and some different series, Jamie focused on some other things in England (including his family). A month or so ago I saw a commercial for a new Jamie Oliver show on FN! Happy day!

Tonight, Jamie will be battling Iron Chef Mario Batali on Food Network's Iron Chef America. The episode airs at 10pm. (If you missed it, click on the link and you'll find a list of when it airs again---6 more times in the next week!)

Then, at 11pm, Food Network is showing a sneak peek of Jamie's new show, Jamie at Home:

Jamie's back doing what he does best — cooking at home with simple, accessible ingredients, including fruits and vegetables that he recently started growing in his garden kitchen. In each episode, Jamie focuses on a specific ingredient and shows viewers several completely different recipes.
I'm looking forward to it!

One of my favorite shows, The Closer, (official website with great stuff here) has a 2 hour special on tonight at 8pm. If you didn't catch the 3rd season this summer, you can watch the episodes today. TNT is showing a Closer marathon. I'm really looking forward to the episodes tonight. Brenda and Fritz travel to Atlanta to catch a fugitive and spend Christmas with Brenda's parents.

Plus, He's Tall!

Usually, my favorite actors (aka "celebrity crushes") are British and, some how, about 6 years older than I am. I have finally developed a crush on an American and he's only a year and a half older. :) (I usually don't confess these sorts of things . . . )

Currently, my "celebrity crush" is John Krasinski who plays "Jim Halpert" on NBC's hilarious show The Office.

He's funny, cute, and tall with lovely eyes and brown hair (I have always liked dark hair). Did I mention he's funny? Oh, and he was going to be an English teacher (I am a History/English teacher). Plus, did I mention he's tall? (I'm 5'11.)

The Office is absolutely hilarious and I really can't get enough of it. My friend Roz recommended I watch it earlier this year and I am so glad I did.

John stars with Mandy Moore in License to Wed starting Tuesday, 3 July. I think Roz, my sister Trisha, Roz's sister Esther, and I will be going some time this week (the four of us grew up together and have known each other for over 20 years).

Do you watch The Office?

Very cute interview with John here and a couple of articles here and here.

Lots more great stuff at Office Tally.
