Happy Birthday, Bobby!!!

Today's the birthday of one of my favorite singer/songwriter/musicians and a very lovely person, Bobby Long. I fell in love with Bobby's music at the end of last year. His lyrics are like poetry, like Keats, and often one has to think and sort of "claim" the meaning for oneself. Bobby's an amazing guitarist and, on his Dangerous Summer Tour the last few months, only got better and better. I am in awe of his abilities and his talent and his passionate intensity on stage. This is not to mention that he is an incredibly sweet guy with an hilarious sense of humor. I am blessed to be a fan of his and to have his music to listen to every day and to have spent some time with him. If you haven't yet, please visit his MySpace and listen to some of his music. He's got a gorgeous whiskey voice and you can't stop listening.

Happy Birthday, Bobby!!
I hope you avoid sharks, rashes, and mafia men!!

Love you like cheese, Bobby!! xx

Happy 108th Birthday!

If Edward Cullen from Stephenie Meyer's Twilightwere a real person (hmmm, real Vampire), he would be 108 years old today. So . . .

Happy Birthday, Edward!!!

It was actually 1 year ago today (around 3:00am) that I finished the 3rd book in the series, Eclipse, and it was a few days later when I realized I had finished the book on his fictional birthday. Sort of a nerdy thing to be happy about, but I'll take it. :)

Off to watch some Twilight and have some cake! :)

Here's the movie trailer in case you missed it:

Happy Birthday, Bella!

If book characters were real people, we would celebrate their birthdays. So, today I'm celebrating Bella Swan's birthday!

Bella is the main character in one of my favorite series, the Twilight Saga. If you haven't read the four books, I highly recommend them. The titles are:

Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1)
New Moon (The Twilight Saga, Book 2)
Eclipse (The Twilight Saga, Book 3)
Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4)

The Twilight film comes out 21 November 2008 and stars Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart as Bella. I can't wait for it.

My posts on the Twilight Saga are here.
Author Stephenie Meyer's website is here.

Happy Birthday To Me!

It's my birthday! I'm 27 years old today and I have had a lovely day! This past weekend I unexpectedly got to go chaperone/work another fabulous Search retreat (like I did last year, actually on my birthday---that was the best one ever!) and it was such a blessing. Today I ended up working and they announced my birthday over the PA system (I didn't even hear it). Kids were constantly saying Happy Birthday and giving me hugs. It was so wonderful, almost like last year. I have had so many Happy Birthday e-mails and lots of cards from FOJG people on the birthday list!

I feel so blessed and loved today! Thank God for all the lovely people who took even a minute to say Happy Birthday. I can't believe I am already 27!

It is important to love oneself, so Happy Birthday to me! :)

Thank you to everyone who has said Happy Birthday, given me a hug, thought of me, prayed for me, sent me a card or e-card or e-mail or present! God bless you all!

Happy Independence Day!

I am going out to the lake for a few days, but I could not leave without wishing our beloved nation a happy birthday. We are blessed to live in the most wonderful place in the history of the earth. Every day here is a precious gift from God.

We must remember to thank our most excellent military for their service and sacrifices. We would not be here without their blood, sweat, tears, and, sometimes, lives. Thank you to those who served in our military, those who serve in our military, and those who will serve in our military. God bless you all.

We must also remember to thank the families of those who serve in the military. Their dedication, sacrifices, and love allow our military men and women to fight on for freedom. Thank you to all the wives, husbands, parents, sisters, brothers, children, cousins, grandparents, and friends of our military. God bless you all.

Thank you to President Bush. Thank you to Vice-President Cheney. Thank you to the House of Representatives. Thank you to the U.S. Senate. Thank you to our Supreme Court and our other judges.

Thank you to all members of our government at the federal, state, and local levels. Thank you, as well, to our police and fire crews. They keep us safe and save lives every day.

Thank you to all who chose to exercise their rights by voting. We keep this country running, for better or for worse. Thank you to all who chose to exercise their freedom of religion---in a peaceful manner. Thank you to all who chose to exercise their right to bear arms---in a peaceful manner (until we must fight the good fight). Thank you to all who protect Life.

Thank you to our Founding Fathers, for creating this wonderful, beautiful nation. I hope it never vanishes from the face of the earth. Thank you for having the courage to sign a piece of paper that changed the world for good---for the best.

Thank you, my fellow Americans, for being here and making our economy run. For going to work every day. For raising families. For going to church. For loving this country. Let's keep America America.

Read the Declaration of Independence here.

Happy Birthday, America! Long may you live!

Happy Independence Day, my fellow Americans! May God bless us all!
